K-Pro / K100 for the D17 Civic
http://www.hondata.com/images/kpro_d17/kpro_d17_m.jpg

The K-Pro /K100 for the D17 consists of a hardware modification to a donor K-Series ECU, a specially modified cam timing wheel, plus Windows software which allows you to re-program the ECU and datalog sensors.

Applications
2001-2005 D17 Civic DX, LX, HX & EX Manual transmission only

Pricing
Hondata K-100 Plug and Play ECU + Cam Gear $2000.00
Hondata K-Pro Plug and Play ECU + Cam Gear $2600.00

Source your own Donor ECU ECU and save $850.00

Please note ALL Hondata supplied hardware and ECU are brand new, and covered by Hondatech warranty.

Application Notes
The stock D17 ECU cannot be converted to a programmable ECU. A new DCr5 ECU or donor ECU must be used.
The Hondata adjustable cam pulley has specially modified timing teeth. The stock timing wheel will not work.
The Civic HX and all 2004-2005 Civics use a wideband 02 sensor compatible with the K-Pro.
Base maps are included for a stock D17 non VTEC Civic and a D17 non VTEC turbo.
The K-Pro ECU will not work on automatic D17 Civics.
Any K-Pro used on a 2002-2004 DC5r-0S will work provided the Hondata cam gear is used.

Donor ECUs
ECUs for the D17 may be sourced from the following vehicles
2002-2004 RSX Base 5 speed (PND -A0 ECU)
2002-2004 RSX Type S 6 speed (PRB-A0 - ECU)
2002-2004 CRV 5 speed (PPA-A0 ECU)
2002-2005 Japanese DC5 Integra Type R (PRC ECU)
2003-2005 Japanese Civic Type R (PRD ECU)
2002-2005 Civic Si (PNF ECU)
2002-2006 Civic Type R (European) (PRA ECU)

General Notes
All 2004-2005 Civics and the 2001-2003 Civic HX use a compatible wideband 02 sensor. Two wires need to be moved for rear O2 operation.
The 2001-2003 Civic DX, LX & EX Civics use a narrowband 02 sensor. Two wires need to be moved for closed loop operation.
If you plan a K engine swap, install the appropriate engine harness and switch on VTC in the KManager software.
Tables may be map-traced in real time.
The K-Pro ECU is not real-time updateable, however most changes to tables and settings can be uploaded in 1-2 seconds via USB.
Most OBDII features may be disabled for race vehicles.
Error codes and the OBDII readiness status may be datalogged.

Installation
The adjustable cam pulley is shaped differently than stock. You will need to remove the power steering pump and alternator and loosen the engine mount.
Removing the stock ECU is fairly involved. There are three choices for the K-Pro installation:
The K-Pro can be installed in the location of the stock ECU.
The K-Pro circuitry can be installed into the Civic's stock ECU case. You will need to cut a USB hole.
The K-Pro ECU can be installed in the glove compartment. You may need to cut the rear plastic.
2004-2005 DX/LX/EX & 2001-2005 HX installation
For the Civics that use a wideband sensor you need to move two wires to activate the rear O2 sensor. If you have OBD 2 disabled and do not need to use the secondary O2 then it is not necessary to move the wires.

You need the cam gear, it will not work without the cam gear.

The hondata cam gear replaces the standard gear. You need to remove the power steering pump / alternator and loosen the engine mount for installation ie to take the standard gear off. After the Hondata gear is installed you NEED to reinstall all the above parts. What you have quoted is the installation guide on the work required, not what you need to remove !! NO standard parts are permanently removed, just removed to access the cam gear.

Depending where your located in Australia, a typical Hondatech dealer would require your car for at least 3 days.

I’m fairly sure the d17 cam gear will not work on a d16. Regards James

ok i have sorced a ecu from a civic R and i just want to know is that price including installation and tune or just for the hondata it self?

The only difference between the k100 and the k pro is the fact the k pro has USB data logging that’s the only difference.

With an ECU supplied it would be $1150 for the k100 including the modification of your supplied ECU + installation of the cam gear and tuning. Installation would be 2 hours labor charged at normal workshop rates + tuning (tuning cost really depends on what we are tuning) at a minimum it would be $880 for tuning.

hi there blk,

do you still provide these services for the d17? i currently have a d17a2 vtec, and wanted to know if i were able to run a k20 prb/prc ecu on my car without the kpro or it is definately required? if i were to be able to the provide a donor ecu, as well as the aem cam gear what would be the cost of installation/tune be? just a rough estimate would be great.

i'm looking to pick up a k100, and work my way up since the d17 standard ecu does not like bolt ons and retunes itself after a while, i've decided not to go any further until i get a programmable ecu. do you think thats the right way to go about it? i'm probably looking to go all NA in the future.
